Frequently Asked Wrap Questions

November 8, 2010

We receive a lot of questions about vehicle wraps on a daily basis – today we will answer some of the most frequently asked questions.  If you have a question you can email them directly to marketing@zentx.com or you can post them on our facebook page.

By far, one of the most popular questions we receive is if wraps can be installed on leased vehicles?  The answer is yes.  The wrap material we use will not damage the factory paint when removed properly.  We frequently apply wraps to leased vehicles for both fleet and personal usage.  The wrap actually helps protect your leased vehicle from stone chips and scratches, which is great for you when turning your leased vehicle back in.

Another popular question is if the wrap will damage their vehicle’s paint?  A wrap will not damage your vehicle’s paint as long as the paint is in good shape when the wrap is installed.

We often are asked how wraps are applied to windows?  We use a special perforated vinyl that can be installed on rear and side windows.  The perforated vinyl allows visibility from the inside out while preventing visibility from the outside in.

Customers always want to know if wraps are difficult to care for?  The only difference in caring for a wrapped vehicle is to pay special attention when washing it.  Check out our previous posting about Vehicle Maintenance which lists the best methods for washing your wrapped vehicle.

I hope this provided some insight about our vehicle wraps.  If you have any wrap questions you can contact us at (989) 695-6770, at marketing@zentx.com, or you can post questions on our facebook page.

Vehicle Wraps 101

August 16, 2010

We get a lot of questions about how vehicle wraps are installed; so I thought today would be great time to briefly cover how a vehicle wrap is installed from start to finish.  The installation process of a vehicle wrap is very detailed and definitely requires a lot of patience – something our installers have mass quantities of.  Before installation can even begin, the wrap must first be designed, printed, and laminated.  Once this has been done, we hand the graphic panels over to the installation team to wrap the vehicle.  Note that this is our standard process at ZENTX, other installers may follow other procedures, plus each vehicle is unique and may require other processes.

The first step of the installation process includes a thorough preparation and cleaning of the vehicle.  Old logos, emblems, antennas, rear windshield wipers, headlights, and taillights may be removed to provide an unobtrusive area to help install the panels more effectively.  Various chemicals are used to remove dirt, grime, and tar from the vehicle ensuring that the panels are being directly applied to a clean surface.  A clean surface is very important because the panels have an adhesive backer that is activated by pressure – this is how the wrap “sticks” to the vehicle.

Once the vehicle is prepped and cleaned, the panels are taped up on the vehicle to ensure proper alignment – the panels are often removed and re-taped until it’s perfect.  Accurate measurements are crucial when applying a wrap – our installers measure numerous times to make sure panel placement is perfect.  Once proper placement has been determined the installation of the panels begin one at a time.  If possible, body lines are used to avoid unnecessary seams but if a seam is required it is overlapped by ½” to 1”.  Installers use squeegees and heat to apply the panels – squeegees help release air bubbles and activate the adhesive while the heat is used to stretch the material over curvatures and also activates the adhesive.  Trimming is done throughout the entire process so that the panels perfectly flow with the contour of the vehicle.  When all of the panels have been applied the vehicle receives a final “post-heat” treatment ensuring that the adhesive has indeed been activated.

Check out our youtube clip above for a visual example of the installation process. l I hope this provides some insight into the installation process of a vehicle wrap. 33' Cigarette Cafe' Racer with partial wrap.

33' Cigarette Cafe' Racer with partial wrap.

We just did a partial wrap on a 33′ Cafe’ Racer Cigarette boat. It is a very custom design with a ton of neat little details.  It features a blue tinted carbon fiber tearing background and a sinister joker with a syringe of adrenaline with poker chips and pin-up playing cards floating in the adrenaline. I mentioned it was custom.

It totally gave this Cigarette a new look and will definitely get some attention on the next poker run!

Frank’s Great Outdoors Trucks

December 22, 2008

We’ve recently wrapped 2 Frank’s Great Outdoors trucks for Pete and Andy.  Pete’s is a super brightly colored yellow and blue Chevy featuring Frank’s on one side and Linwood Beach Marina on the other.

Andy’s Ford features a photo-realistic salmon chasing a lure on one side and walleye on the other. A large buck is toward the rear on both sides.  You’re sure not to miss either of these going down the road so keep your eye out!

Let’s say you have a super clean, really beautiful boat. You love the boat and don’t really want to get rid of it but it’s looking a little dated. Like White Suit, Pink T-shirt dated. What should you do? You bring that baby to ZENTX to get brought into the 21st Century that’s what you do.  You’ve probably seen some of our full wraps that’ll make your boat a custom work of art, but you can also update it more subtly as well. This Powerquest is a really clean beautiful boat that Crockett and Tubbs coulda picked the colors for. We’ve updated it keeping the teal to match the interior. If your boat is looking a little dated stop into ZENTX today.  Or as always check out our website http://www.zentx.com for more info.
